Jamie Johnson is a collage and mixed media artist. She also designs jewelry, lamps, artist books, and shrines. In a past life she studied marketing at Northwestern Michigan College. She is 50 years old and lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with one husband, two teenagers, two cats and her old dog Max. She has a studio in the backyard where she tries to contain her vast collection of beads, kitsch, and paint.

My process is an intuitive layering of paint, ephemera, and fiber in a theme of community, home and nature. I have a passion for kitsch (odd beads, micro machine cars, plastic people, doll heads) and an obsession for copper nails.

In the nighttime, the houses leave their foundations, finally dancing.

This painting is dedicated to my husband, Mike who needs to be coaxed into leaving the yard!
